Mr. Lamb is a middle aged man who lives in a big house with a huge and beautiful garden.Mr Lamb is also handicapped. He has lost one of his legs due to a bomb explosion and it has now been replaced with a tin leg. He likes to talk with people and make them his friends, that's why, he kept the gates of his garden always open. Children call  him Lamey Lamb. He is very positive and optimistic person.He is very friendly and motivates Derry lovingly.He asks Derry to help him in plucking apples.He makes toffees,Jam and jelly to attract people.He is a patient listener and hold a positive attitude towards Life.He fills Ferry with confidence.

He told Derry a story of Beauty and Beast to inspire him.He motivates Derry that Handsome is that does handsome,a book can not be judged by its cover it can be judged through in it.He replaced Derry negativity into positive thoughts.

DERRY - Derry is a fourteen -year- old boy,who is disfigured and ugly because one side of his face was burnt due to spilling of acid.He himself doesn't like  his ugly face in the mirror. He hides himself and ignore people because people use to pass comment on his ugly face.The attitude of people give him more pain and torture than his physical pain.The insensitive remarks of women make him deeply hurt and one day he goes to Mr Lamb's garden.He is welcome there Mr Lamb speaks politely he needs not to be afraid of  him.Derry says that he is not afraid of the people, they afraid of him.Mr Lamb motivates him that he is young, having good brain, eyes, ear and healthy body if he decides he can do better than others. Thus his negativity has been replaced with positive thinking.
