Q1 Character sketch of ANTONY

Ans. PROTAGONIST- Antony is the protagonist and hero of the play "Antony and Cleopatra" written by an eminent sonneteer and playwright William Shakespeare. He is the right hand of Julius Caesar and best friend of Octavius Caesar. He is good orator.After Julius Caesar's death he becomes the king of East part of Rome.His friend Octavius Caesar takes the West part of Rome and Lepidus takes The Africans Provinces, that was left over.

  ADVENTUROUS- Antony is very bold and fearless.He is very powerful and having strong muscles.He has defeated his enemies several times in the battlefield.He is ready to sacrifice everything for his reputation and his subjects/people.He decides to leave Cleopatra for the sake of Rome.

ROMANTIC. Antony is very tall, handsome and nobleman of Rome.

He falls in love with Queen Cleopatra in the first sight. Cleopatra is the queen of Egypt.She is the most beautiful, charming and loving lady.

Antony thinks her that she is more beautiful than Helen of Troy.

He is very romantic towards her.

He is ready to sacrifice everything for her love.He left his real wife Fulvia.

She dies in missing him.Antony left Rome and starts living in Egypt with Cleopatra.He has several children with her.

SACRIFICE- He has sacrificed his wife Cleopatra for Rome and his friend Octavius Caesar. He marries with Octavia, the sister of Octavius Caesar for the peace.But Later he sacrificed his wife Fulvia and Octavia for Cleopatra. When he comes to know that Cleopatra is cheating him,he suicides in the lap of Cleopatra.

Q2-. Character sketch of CLEOPATRA.

Ans. PROTAGONIST- Cleopatra is the protagonist and heroine of the play"Antony and Cleopatra" written by an eminent sonneteer and playwright William Shakespeare.She is an intelligent and effective ruler of Egypt.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE- Cleopatra is the most beautiful and charming, young and noble lady of Egypt.She is rich and having ornamental clothes, wearing double crown of Egypt.Her skin is golden brown and her hair is long and black.She has dark huge eyes .It looks that she is more beautiful than Helen of Troy. Once she was the mistress of Julius Caesar and Pompey the great.Now she seduces Antony and  catch him like a fish.She looks like goddess.Her beauty attracts Antony.He loves her more than anything in the World.

Antony is very romantic towards her.

He is ready to sacrifice everything for her love.He left his real wife Fulvia.

She dies in missing him.Antony left Rome and starts living in Egypt with Cleopatra.He has several children with her.

ADVENTUROUS- Cleopatra is very brave and fearless queen of Egypt.

She was leading the army in sea.

but weather was not in their favour,she came back with her ship.

When she heard that Antony had married with Octavia.she could not believe. She wants to stab messenger for telling a lie. When she comes to know that Antony has suicided .She decides to suicide.She is not ready to surrender before Octavius Caesar. She ordered to bring the poisonous king cobra.She puts the King cobra on her breast and dies by snake biting.She can not live the life of slavery.

Q3-character sketch of Octavius Caesar.

Ans. Octavius Caesar- Octavius Caesar is the second most powerful Hero of the play" Antony and Cleopatra" written by an eminent sonneteer and playwright William Shakespeare. He is the nephew and adopted son of Julius Caesar.He is the best friend of Antony. Octavius rules the Roman Empire with Antony and Lepidus.After Julius Caesar's death Antony becomes the king of East part of Rome.Octavius Caesar takes the West part of Rome and Lepidus takes The Africans Provinces, that was left over.

BRAVE AND FEARLESS- Octavius Caesar is very brave and fearless ruler. He is very intelligent and effective ruler of Rome.The relationship between Antony and Octavius Caesar is not so good.For the young triumvirate believes that Antony is neglecting his duty flirting with Cleopatra in Egypt.He hates Cleopatra because she has taken Antony away from him.When Antony rejects his sister Octavia, He becomes very angry at Antony. He wants to take revenge with him.He wants to make him slave by defeating.but the death of Antony and Cleopatra soften his heart.

Q4-. Write Character sketch of Lepidus.

Ans. LEPIDUS

Lepidus is the third ruler of Rome.He is the member of Triumvirate.He is mediator between Antony and Octavius Caesar the two rivals.

After Julius Caesar's death Antony becomes the king of East part of Rome.His friend Octavius Caesar takes the West part of Rome and Lepidus takes The Africans Provinces, that was left over.

He has no real power of his own.

He is the laughing stock of the play.Even servants comment on him.

And Caesar doesn't take interest in him.He praises Antony and Octavius but he has no Idea of his own.He drinks much in Pompey's party.

Q5- Character sketch of Octavia”

Ans.Octavia.Octavia is the female character of the play.She is the third wife of Antony and sister of Octavius Caesar.

INNOCENCE- She is very pure and pious by heart and soul.She is faithful and obedient wife of Antony. When Antony left her, she comes back to her brother Octavius Caesar without any argument. She is very loyal and dutiful wife.She knows that she will not get real love and respect with a married husband.She is torn between Antony and Octavius.she becomes puppet into the hands of Antony and Octavius Caesar.

At last we can say that she is innocent, obedient, faithful wife of Antony.

Q6. A short note on Enobarbus.

Ans.Enobarbus.Enobarbus is the trusted lieutenant and close friend of Antony. He always cuts joke and admires Antony. He remains with Antony while others left him.

Later he commits suicide.
