Q1. Character sketch of Rosalind

ROSALIND. - Rosalind is the female protagonist and heroine of the play AS YOU LIKE IT, written by an eminent sonneteer and playwright William Shakespeare. She is  loving daughter of Duke Senior.

She is still young and noble lady .

She is well experienced and well known creation of Shakespeare.She is multi talented and having intellectual mind.She is charming and loving daughter.She has strong will power.She falls in love with Orlando.

She gives him her necklace as a token of love

 BRAVE AND FEARLESS-   When Duke Fredrick came to know about her love with Orlando.He banished her. Celia and Rosalind were fast friend.she could not live without Rosalind.Celia and Rosalind were fond of eachother.She follws Rosalind.Rosalind disguises herself a handsome young man, named Ganymede. And Celia disguises herself as a shepherdess,a simple girl, calls herself Aliena. Rosalind goes to forest Arden to find out her father.

CUNNING AND CLEVELAND-

Rosalind is is very cunning and clever girl.she gives tution to Orlando about true love.She also promised to find out his beloved.She didn't disclose her identity.Her kindness and beauty won the heart of Orlando.

 At last scene,she disclose her identity. Orlando was able to get his love Rosalind.

At last we can say that Rosalind is very loving daughter and loving wife.

She is very romantic and beautiful young woman.

Q2. Character sketch of Orlando.

Ans. ORLANDO. Orlando is the protagonist and hero of the play "AS YOU LIKE IT" written by an eminent sonneteer and playwright William Shakespeare.He is young, handsome and nobleman. He is youngest son of Sir Rowland de Bois. He is youger brother of Oliver.

He gets no respect from his brother.

His brother Oliver hates him without any reason and wants to kill him. Oliver didn't allow him to study.So Orlando is illiterate and uneducated.

BRAVE AND FEARLESS- Orlando is very brave and fearless.He defeated Charlie in battlefield. Charlie is very powerful wrestler of Duke Fredrick.He threw champion Charles to the ground so heavily that he lay there, unable to move and speak.

When Oliver came to know about this incident, he banished him from country. Orlando left the palace and came to the Forest Arden.

In the forest he starts writing poems on the name of Rosalind by carving 

tree trunk.He met Rosalind by chance but he didn't recognise her because she was in simple dress..Rosalind could not understand who has written about her name.She promised him to teach about the true love. She also promised to find out his beloved. At last scene,she disclose her identity. Orlando was able to get his love Rosalind.He saved his brother twice from snake and lioness.So his brother Oliver felt his mistake and forgive his brother.

GET BACK HIS LOVE- In the forest,at last scene,we see Oliver falls in love with Celia and Orlando falls in love with Rosalind.They marry in presence of Duke Senior and other loyal courtiers.

Q3 CHARACTER SKETCH OF OLIVER.

Ans.  OLIVER.Oliver is the eldest son of Sir Rowland de Bois.He is the second villain of the play "AS YOU LIKE IT"written by an eminent sonneteer and playwright William Shakespeare.

DEVICE TO KILL

He is heartless and rude king. He hates his brother Orlando more than anything in the World.He tries many times to kill Orlando.He tries to burn Orlando's sleeping room to kill him.He wants to get rid of him anyhow.

He didn't allow Orlando to send school that's why Orlando is uneducated. He provokes Charles a strong wrestler against Orlando to break his neck and kill Orlando in the battlefield.

SAVED BY ORLANDO.

When Duke Fredrick forces Oliver to find out Orlando.Oliver goes to Arden forest to find out his brother. He was rags ,dirty and unshaved. He is asleep. Orlando saves twice from a snake and from lioness. When Oliver comes to know he feels sorry and begs pardon

Falls in love…

Oliver falls in love with Celia the loving daughter of Duke Fredrick.

He decided to marry with her.

In the forest Arden Orlando marries with Rosalind and Oliver marries with Celia.There is happy ending of the play.

At last we can say that Oliver is the combination of greatness and weakness.First he hates his brother but later he forgets and forgives Orlando.

,Q4-. CHARACTER SKETCH OF CELIA.

Ans.  CELIA .Celia is the second female heroine of the play "AS YOU LIKE IT"written by an eminent sonneteer and playwright William Shakespeare.She is loving daughter of Duke Fredrick.She is charming, young and noble lady.She well educated and well cultured lady. 

BOSOM FRIEND-Celia loves Rosalind more than anything in the world.She has left her father because of her friend. She sacrifices her father and his dukedom for Rosalind.Celia and Rosalind were fast friend.she could not live without Rosalind.Celia and Rosalind were fond of eachother.She follws Rosalind.Rosalind disguises herself a handsome young man, named Ganymede. And Celia disguises herself as a shepherdess,a simple girl, calls herself Aliena.

CLEVER AND CUNNING. Celia is very clever and cunning girl.She behaves as a village .She doesn't disclose her identity to Orlando and Oliver. She falls in love with Oliver.At last she marries with Oliver.

Q5-  Character sketch of DUKE SENIOR

Ans. DUKE SENIOR-

Duke Senior is elder brother of Frederick and father of Rosalind.

He is real owner of kingdom.He ruled his country wisely, but his cunning brother seized his crown and dukedom from him.He banished Duke.Duke run away to Arden forest to save his life.Duke lives in forest with his faithful followers.He lives in forest without any enemies.He has to face only winter and rough weather.

He is repenting only for his daughter She also missing her father very much.

At last scene Duke Senior has got back his dukedom.Once again he started living a happy life with his daughter and her husband.

The scene is ending with cheerful party.

Q6. Character sketch of Charlie.

Ans. A POWERFUL WRESTLER-

Charlie is a powerful wrestler of Duke Fredrick.He is having strong muscles. He has defeated three brothers easily one after other.He is still fresh and smiling. Now he is ready to fight with four opponent Orlando.

Charlie is very powerful wrestler of Duke Fredrick. Orlando  threw champion Charles to the ground so heavily that he lay there, unable to move and speak.

Q7 DUKE FREDRICK

Ans. Villain Duke Fredrick is the villain of the play" AS YOU LIKE IT" written by an eminent sonneteer and playwright William Shakespeare.

DICTATORSHIP-

He is heartless and cruel ruler.He kois greedy, selfish,mean and clever king.He dislikes the people who are rich. He has no sympathy for Rosalind and her father Duke Senior.He banished his brother for his crown and dukedom. Later when he comes to know that Rosalind loves Orlando,he banished her without any reason.He loves Celia more than anything in the World.

At last he feels his mistakes and return his dukedom to Duke Senior

He goes to monastery to spend rest of his life.
