Q:3 What is  a Sentence?

Ans.A Sentences is a group of words that expresses  a meaningful statement, question, command or exclamation. A sentence usually has at least one subject and one finite verb.A Sentence has two parts subject and Predicate.

हर भाषा में बोलने अथवा लिखने के लिए शब्दों के समूहों का प्रयोग किया जाता है. ऐसे शब्दों के समूह जिनके भाव पूरे हों को हम sentence (वाक्य) कहते हैं.

  Kinds of Sentences 

There are five types of sentences: 1-Declarative Sentence- घोषणात्मक वाक्य '

Declarative sentence is  a statement.It is used to give information, expresses opinion or Answer.

1-I like reading stories.

2- Mr Gautam teaches us English.

3- I have not read that book

 4- She drives a red scooter. .

5-She does not write very well. 

2- Interrogative Sentence प्रश्नवाचक 

A Sentence that ask question is called an interrogative sentences.

 1-Do you think she writes well? 

2-Does she drive a red scooter? 

3-Who is your class teacher?

4- won't you help me?

3-Imperative Sentence- आज्ञा वाचक वाक्य 

that expresses a command a request, advice are called imperative sentence.

1- Boil the water for ten minutes. 

2-Drive straight and turn left. 

3-Shut the door.

 4-Please give me your pen.

 5-Obey your teacher.

 

4-Exclamatory Sentence-विस्मय बोधक A Sentence that expresses some strong feeling is called exclamatory-Sentence.

1-How wonderful this melody is! 

2-What an idea ! 

3-What a lovely watch!

4-How fine it is today!

5- Optative Sentence-इच्छा वाचक

A sentence that expresses a wish, desire is called an optative sentence.

1-May you live long!

2- may god bless you!

Note- Every sentence begins with a capital letter.

 A full stop (.) Is placed at the end of the declarative sentence or imperative sentence.

 A question mark (?)is placed at the end of every interrogative sentence.

 An exclamation marks (!) is placed at the end of every exclamatory or optative sentence.
