Ans. The Zoo Story is a one-act play by American playwright Edward Albee. His first play, it was written in 1958 and completed in just three weeks.The play explores themes of isolation, loneliness, Jerry is a very important characters of the play "The Zoo Story written by Edward Albee. The whole story and action of the play revolve around him. He is a lonely disappointed man.His parents died when he was a child.He has no family ties.He has no one to love him.

 In order to overcome his loneliness and Frustration he has àlways been moving in search of someone who could understand him and with whom he may develop friendship. But he fails to make contact with any such person. When he fails to form any meaningful relationship with any other human being, he tries to be friendly with his landlady's dog. His experience with the dog has been described by him. To win the dog's affection, he gave it hamburgers to eat which the dog liked most,but when it finished eating them, it promptly tried to bite him.  He tried to poison the dog. Mixing poison with the meat. The dog stopped barking at Jerry and ignored him.
