Tips to be Remembered for an Effective Report Writing
➤ Report must be based on facts and should be to the point.
➤ Must be written in passive voice as far as possible.
➤ Since a report is an account of the event which has already taken place, it must be written in past tense.
➤ Since your report needs to be concised, don't give explanations, stick to the relevant points only.
➤ A report, to be effective, must begin with a catchy heading running into small paragraphs each dealing with only one aspect of the subject, e.g. inaugural part-it should be only-how the event was inaugurated.
Format of a Report
➤ Headline or Title: Catchy and short

Fight between an Auto Rickshaw
Driver and a Passenger
By: Balbir
Student K.V.P.L., Meerut
Meerut, 27 February 20XX
Yesterday when I was about to reach the school, I was shocked to see a huge crowd near the school gate. On reaching close I found that an auto rickshaw driver was fighting with one of his passengers. Hot words were being exchanged. Soon this verbal combat converted into a physical fight. They started hitting each other. It seemed that there was some misunderstanding regarding the fare. The auto rickshaw driver was demanding 50 whereas the passenger was adamant to pay him 30 on the ground that he usually paid that amount for this distance. Meanwhile Mrs. Rashi, the chief coordinator of the school, came out and intervened. She separated the two apart and asked them to keep their calm. She asked them what the cause of the quarrel was. She listened to their stories one by one. Mrs. Rashi asked the passenger, who seemed to be quite well-off, to pay the poor driver his due amount. Finally, the entire matter was resolved quite amicably.
