Section D – Model Answer A

We’re Not Afraid to Die… if We Can All Be Together is a story of courage, determination and teamwork. The narrator and his family face a terrifying storm in the sea. The huge waves badly damage the Wavewalker, and water begins entering the boat. Instead of panicking, the family works together. The narrator repairs the boat and pumps out water, while his wife and children support him emotionally. The children, especially Jonathan, display extraordinary courage. Jonathan’s statement that they were not afraid to die if they could all be together gives the narrator great strength. Finally, through teamwork, courage and determination, they manage to reach Ile Amsterdam safely. The story teaches us that unity and a positive attitude can help people overcome even the most difficult challenges.

Section D – Model Answer B

In The Voice of the Rain, Walt Whitman presents rain as an essential and beautiful part of nature. The poet asks the rain about its identity, and the rain replies that it is the “Poem of Earth.” It rises invisibly from the land and sea, forms clouds and returns to the earth as rain. This continuous process nourishes the earth and removes its dryness. The poet compares rain with a song because both return to their origin after completing their journey. Rain is therefore presented as a natural force that gives life, beauty and freshness to the earth. The poem celebrates the eternal cycle of nature and shows how closely all living things are connected with it.
